Oh my.... It has been a long time! I have really gotten into facebook and have a site there. So sign up and look for me!

For anyone who's interested.... I will be changing this to a recipe site! I am INSPIRED by Chef Jamie Oliver, who has a philosophy of Pass It On. He is very concerned about childhood obesity and what we are feeding our children. He thinks that if people actually got in their kitchens and cooked, there would be a lot less health problems in the world. There is a problem though... Not many people know how to cook these days. I know many young married couples where neither one of them know how to cook. It's all about convinence and fast and, well, you know how it is. We're all guilty. I am going to be trying my best to make healthy foods for my family as well as getting my food storage in order. I will try and put tips here, and I will definately post recipes!
Here's one to start off with:

Pork Roast with Rosemary and Garlic

1 healthy sized pork roast (about 5-6 lbs)
a few sticks of rosemary (I have a bush in the yard, but you can find it in any grocery store)
2-4 bulbs of garlic
5-6 carrots
5 potatoes
salt and pepper
a baguette and some butter

A crock pot is the easiest for this recipe. If you don't have one, you should try and find a good one for your kitchen. I am a working mom and this makes my life so much easier!

Season your roast with the salt and pepper first. Just rub it all over the roast! Pour one cup of water in the crockpot and put your roast in. You can peel the carrots and taters if you want, but I like them a little more rustic and don't peel them. Just make sure they are washed!! Cut the carrots, leave the taters whole, arrange around the roast. Place the garlic and rosemary on top. DO NOT PEEL THE GARLIC!! Leave them in their bulbs! Cover the crock pot. The reason I like the crock pot is you can make it in the morning and come home to dinner! If you are not too familiar with your crock pot, read the manual and see what it says under PORK. Or you can just put it on High for about 6 hours. Mine will turn to the warm stage after the 6 hours is over, and that will continue to cook the roast.

Pick up a baguette on your way home from work, or if you're lucky....your husband will do it! Take the bulbs of garlic out and place on a plate. Throw out the rosemary. Toast that baguette! Arrange the roast and veggies on a platter. Cut up slices of your baguette and smear some butter on them. Since the garlic is super soft, all you have to do is squeeze the bulb from the bottom and the oozy roasted garlic paste will come out the top. Just make sure it goes on the bread!

EAT AND ENJOY!! Oh yeah, don't forget to make a small salad! =O)

Easter week

It was Easter a few weeks ago and it was great to have most of the family together. My sister, Jenny, her hubby and their muchkins came to visit the CA sisters. It was great! They were here for 5 days and the only time we didn't have fun, was when Gina, Jenny and I decided to go to Walmart the night before Easter for all our Easter stuff!! INCLUDING EGG DYE!! What were we thinking? Not all of the little ones stayed awake long enough to color eggs, but there were a few that were waiting to do their job at 9:30 that night. And, yes, they were all up way too early that next day! David had a great time hunting eggs (he even found some without mommy's help!). But it was definately Connor's day! He is great at finding things (I always call him over to my house if I lose something) and it seems like Easter Egg Hunts were made just for him!

We also made it to Irvine Regional Park that weekend, where Sam had fun with the big boys fishing in the lake that is obviously "fish free." There was a little train there, a zoo of rescued wildlife and pony rides. David had fun just running from mommy. Which wouldn't have been so bad, if we hadn't have been so close to the water. Oh well, at least he didn't fall in!

Terrible Two's??

Who are we kidding here? I would think the term would be more like the terrible twenty-month through 4? I don't know. When is this stage supposed to end? David is like this little machine that does nothing but pull stuff out of or down off of places he shouldn't even be near in the first place, or he's busy shoving things into places I didn't even know exhisted!....Oh look! He just pulled something else onto the floor! And just how are you supposed to clean your house during this phase? Does everyone go through this? Oh well. At least he has his moments. I'm attaching a picture of him during one of his moments this afternoon while he was eating his after-nap snack. Peanut Butter on a Bagel. He never did eat the bagel part though...

We are getting close to being ready for Christmas. I just talked to my little sister, Jenny, today and she and Mark will be visiting for the weekend!! Yay!! She isn't too far away in Arizona, but when you only get to see one another a few times a year, she may as well be living on the East Coast!

We are looking forward to driving around some of the neighborhoods that are all decked out in Christmas lights so David can "oooooo" and "aaaaaah" all while we stay snuggled in the warmth of our car! We are hoping to find Santa this weekend too, the pic we got at the ward party....well...let's just say that Santa was a little scary for our little David.
Have a good weekend!

December 14, 2007

Today is the day we start blogging.
Never did I think I would do this, but after seeing all my cousins going to town, I see it's a pretty fun way to let others know what's going on with your family. I know this will be a daily visit for the grandparents! It better be, anyway! And of course, since Sam and I have the cutest little boy in the WORLD.... We have to share! I am in the middle of writing our Christmas letter, so this is it for now. We'll call this my "test" post.
Mele Kalikimaka!
